Gimme Some Sugar
Not going to lie, there is sugar in this recipe. No, I’m not talking about the natural sugar from the pineapples… I’m talking brown sugar. Normally, I do not add sugar to this sort of thing. I try and restrict processed sugar usage to baking, where it is generally necessary for the recipe to turn out okay. However, growing up my family made ham covered in pineapples all the time. Guess what the secret ingredient was? A delightful brown sugar glaze! This is my “healthiest” attempt at that. By adding only one-eighth of a cup, you add a whole other dimension of flavor!
Fuhgeddaboudit
I’m not sure if there are people out there who still do not know what a slow cooker is. I really hope that is not the case, but I’ve seen stranger things (no pun intended). While the Instant Pot has made huge strides in the last year, the Crock-pot will always prevail. The “set-it-and-forget-it” mentality of the slow cooker appeals to all generations. One of the best things about this recipe is that the prep is minimal, and then you get to forget about it. While a ham would cook a little faster in a pressure cooker, you have to stay close by with a fear of the thing exploding! With this recipe, you have the ability to do the laundry, wrap some presents, or finish up your last minute holiday shopping. Sounds like an easy holiday recipe to me!

Easy Pineapple Slow Cooker Ham
Equipment
- slow cooker
Ingredients
- 4 lb bone in ham
- 1/8 cup brown cane sugar
- 1 pineapple cored and sliced into 2"x 2" cubes
- toothpicks
Instructions
- Place the ham in the bottom of the slow cooker. Be sure to remove any prepackaged sauces that may be attached to the ham.
- Take the brown sugar and sprinkle it over the ham. Make sure to evenly coat the entire ham.
- Cut the pineapple as directed. Take half of the pineapple chunks and stick them into the ham using toothpicks, covering the majority of the surface of the ham.
- Place the remaining pineapple chunks around the base of the ham.
- Cook the ham on high for 2 1/2 hours. If a more tender ham is desired, turn off the cooker and allow the ham to rest in the slow cooker for another hour on "warm".
- Serve the ham covered in the pineapples and brown sugar juice from the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Enjoy!
