Ingredients

  • 4 lb bone in ham
  • 1/8 cup brown cane sugar
  • 1 pineapple cored and sliced into 2"x 2" cubes
  • toothpicks

Equipment

  • slow cooker

Method

  1. Place the ham in the bottom of the slow cooker. Be sure to remove any prepackaged sauces that may be attached to the ham.
  2. Take the brown sugar and sprinkle it over the ham. Make sure to evenly coat the entire ham.
  3. Cut the pineapple as directed. Take half of the pineapple chunks and stick them into the ham using toothpicks, covering the majority of the surface of the ham.
  4. Place the remaining pineapple chunks around the base of the ham.
  5. Cook the ham on high for 2 1/2 hours. If a more tender ham is desired, turn off the cooker and allow the ham to rest in the slow cooker for another hour on "warm".
  6. Serve the ham covered in the pineapples and brown sugar juice from the bottom of the slow cooker.
  7. Enjoy!

Notes

For the ham, I used a smoked ham portion with the bone in. The smoked flavor pairs well with the brown sugar and pineapple.
