Father’s Day is just around the corner! What a better way to celebrate your dad than with a delicious meal. This Steak, Bacon, & Blue Cheese Salad is the perfect balanced combo for your weekend Father’s Day picnic!
Meat is for Men
Ah… gender stereotypes. Gotta love ’em. Growing up, the culture around me emphasized the idea that women ate salads and men ate juicy steaks. I guess the concept was that salads make you skinny and meat makes you bulk up. While they weren’t necessarily wrong, they did raise a generation of women filled with eating disorders and this incorrect image of healthy eating. Today, there are also many men that struggle with the concept of plant-based eating because they feel weird not eating loads of meat (as a woman, I was also unsure of this too). It’s time that we break those stereotypes and support women who eat meat, and men who eat salads! That is what I love about this recipe. It combines the best of both worlds, providing a tasty and healthy option for both men and women to enjoy!

While steak and bacon aren’t the most photogenic, they do make a mean combination. I have been meaning to do a combo like this for quite some time now. At restaurants, I always see burgers topped with bacon, caramelized onions, and blue cheese and it makes me drool. What better time to grill some steaks and bacon than on Father’s Day?! I also decided to throw some tomatoes on the salad, as the acidity pairs well with the smokey flavor of the grilled meats. You could also top the salad with your favorite croutons to add an extra crunch!
