Fries Before Guys
I don’t know too many people that are not interested in french fries. When I first started the blog I knew I wanted to create my own french fry recipe because I knew it would be a hit. It was not long after I started Passport Flavor that I got an air fryer and started experimenting. Shortly after that, my original Air Fryer French Fries recipe blew up on Pinterest! It is an older recipe, but definitely one that deserves to be brought out of the wood works. It is also the basis for this recipe, as the only substitution is the sweet potato for the white potato.
Fry Me to the Moon
I absolutely love french fries. When we go out to eat, I generally gravitate to the meals that come with them. It’s a bonus if they are fresh cut and not frozen. I wanted to create my own at-home recipe because I wanted to eat my favorite comfort food on a “healthier” level. I was tired of buying unhealthy, freezer fries that left me feeling guilty about eating them. Now, I can buy potatoes and know how my french fries are made. That is one of the biggest benefits of the air fryer.
Another fun thing is experimenting with different sauces. Each time we make the regular or sweet potato fries is a different experience. We’ve dipped them in anything from sriracha to whipped cinnamon butter. My husband loves ketchup, but I’m an “aoli” kind of person. I like to take some almond yogurt and mix it with sriracha to create a spicy, yet refreshing dip. Whatever combination of sauces you choose will taste amazing with these easy and healthy Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries!

Air Fryer Sweet Potato Fries
Equipment
- Air Fryer
Ingredients
- 5 sweet potatoes medium sized
- 1/2 Tbs avocado oil or spray
- salt to taste, about a pinch
Instructions
- Wash and dry the potatoes, peel if preferred (I leave the skins on)
- Slice the potatoes into fries, approx. 1/2 inch thick
- Place fries in a bowl and spray or toss with high heat oil, such as avocado oil
- Sprinkle salt and toss to evenly coat
- Add fries to air fryer and set timer for 25 minutes at 400F
- Remove basket and toss fries every 5 minutes until cooked
- Serve with desired dipping sauce
